Choctaw is a Native American language spoken by the Choctaw people primarily in the southeastern United States. Despite its endangered status, there are still efforts being made to preserve and promote the language, including through music. One of the most popular musical artists using Choctaw language is Samantha Crain, a singer-songwriter from Oklahoma who is also of Choctaw heritage. Crain has released several albums featuring songs in Choctaw, such as "Belle" and "Taawaha (The Unknown)." Another notable musician is Jeff Carpenter, who has recorded traditional Choctaw songs as well as his own compositions in the language.
There are currently no known radio stations exclusively in Choctaw language. However, the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma has a radio station, KOSR, which broadcasts in English but also features some programming in Choctaw, such as news and cultural segments. Additionally, there are various online resources for learning and listening to Choctaw language, including the Choctaw Nation Language Department's website and the Choctaw Language and Culture Facebook page.
