Tropical rock is a music genre that emerged in the late 1960s and early 1970s in Latin America, fusing traditional Latin rhythms with elements of rock and roll. The genre is characterized by its upbeat and danceable rhythms, with a focus on percussion and the use of brass and wind instruments.

Some of the most popular artists in the tropical rock genre include Carlos Santana, Maná, Los Fabulosos Cadillacs, Juan Luis Guerra, and Rubén Blades. Carlos Santana is a Mexican-American guitarist and songwriter who rose to fame in the late 1960s with his band Santana, known for their blend of rock, Latin and jazz fusion. Maná is a Mexican rock band that formed in the 1980s and has become one of the best-selling Latin music acts of all time. Los Fabulosos Cadillacs, a band from Argentina, are known for their eclectic sound that incorporates elements of rock, ska, reggae, and traditional Latin rhythms. Juan Luis Guerra, a Dominican singer, songwriter and producer, is considered one of the most influential artists in Latin music, known for his fusion of tropical rhythms with jazz and gospel music. Rubén Blades, a Panamanian singer, songwriter and actor, is regarded as one of the most important figures in Latin music, combining elements of salsa, jazz and rock with socially conscious lyrics.

There are a number of radio stations that play tropical rock music, including Radio Tropicalida, Radio Ritmo Latino, and Radio Tropicálida 104.7 FM. These stations feature a mix of classic and contemporary tropical rock hits, as well as other genres of Latin music. Tropical rock music has a broad appeal, both within Latin America and beyond, and has influenced a number of other music genres, including salsa, Latin pop, and reggaeton.
