J-pop, or Japanese pop music, is a genre that originated in Japan in the 1990s. It is characterized by its catchy melodies, colorful music videos, and unique choreography. J-pop has become increasingly popular in recent years and has gained a large following outside of Japan.

Some of the most popular J-pop artists include AKB48, Arashi, Babymetal, Perfume, and Utada Hikaru. AKB48, a girl group with over 100 members, has become one of the most successful J-pop acts of all time. Arashi, a boy band formed in 1999, has also achieved widespread popularity both in Japan and internationally. Babymetal, a trio of teenage girls who blend J-pop and heavy metal, have gained a cult following around the world. Perfume, a girl group known for their futuristic sound and style, have also gained a large international following. Utada Hikaru, who has been active since the late 1990s, is one of the best-selling J-pop artists of all time and is known for her powerful vocals and emotional ballads.

There are several radio stations that play J-pop, both within Japan and around the world. Some of the most popular stations include J1 XTRA, J-Pop Project Radio, and Japan-A-Radio. J1 XTRA is a digital radio station that broadcasts 24/7 and plays a mix of J-pop, anime music, and Japanese indie music. J-Pop Project Radio is an online radio station that plays J-pop music from the 1980s to the present day. Japan-A-Radio is a streaming radio station that plays J-pop, anime music, and Japanese rock music.
