US rap, also known as hip hop, is a music genre that originated in African American and Latino communities in the Bronx, New York City, in the 1970s. It has since become a global phenomenon, with artists from all over the world incorporating rap into their music. The genre is characterized by spoken or chanted rhyming lyrics, often accompanied by a beat, which can range from simple to complex.

Some of the most popular US rap artists include Jay-Z, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, Kanye West, and Drake. Jay-Z, who has been active since the 1990s, is widely regarded as one of the greatest rappers of all time, and has won numerous awards for his music. Eminem, who rose to fame in the late 1990s, is known for his fast-paced and often controversial lyrics. Kendrick Lamar, who emerged in the 2010s, is praised for his socially conscious lyrics and unique style.

There are numerous radio stations that play US rap music, both online and over the airwaves. Some of the most popular ones include Hot 97, which is based in New York City and has been playing hip hop since the 1990s, and Power 106, which is based in Los Angeles and features a mix of new and classic hip hop. Other popular US rap radio stations include Shade 45, which is owned by Eminem's record label, and SiriusXM's Hip Hop Nation.
