Jazz hop music on the radio

Jazz hop, also known as jazz rap, is a subgenre of hip hop that incorporates jazz elements into its production. The genre emerged in the late 1980s and early 1990s, influenced by the fusion of jazz and hip hop styles pioneered by artists such as Gang Starr and A Tribe Called Quest.

One of the most popular jazz hop artists is the group Digable Planets, who achieved critical and commercial success with their 1993 album "Reachin' (A New Refutation of Time and Space)." Other notable jazz hop acts include Guru's Jazzmatazz, Us3, and The Roots, who have been blending jazz and hip hop since their formation in the early 1990s.

Jazz hop has continued to evolve and influence contemporary music. Artists such as Kendrick Lamar, Flying Lotus, and Thundercat have all incorporated jazz elements into their music, expanding the genre's influence beyond its traditional boundaries.

Radio stations dedicated to jazz hop are relatively scarce, but there are a few online stations that cater to the genre's fans. Jazz Radio and Jazz FM both feature jazz hop tracks alongside traditional jazz and soul music. Additionally, platforms such as Bandcamp and SoundCloud provide a wealth of independent jazz hop artists who are constantly pushing the boundaries of the genre.
