Jamaican music has had a significant impact on global music, particularly through the emergence of reggae in the 1960s. This island nation has a rich musical heritage that spans genres such as mento, ska, rocksteady, and dancehall. Perhaps the most famous Jamaican musician of all time is Bob Marley, whose music continues to influence generations of musicians worldwide.

Other notable Jamaican artists include Toots and the Maytals, Peter Tosh, Jimmy Cliff, Buju Banton, and Sean Paul. Toots and the Maytals are often credited with coining the term "reggae" in their song "Do the Reggay." Peter Tosh was a member of Bob Marley's band, The Wailers, and had a successful solo career after leaving the band. Jimmy Cliff had a breakout hit with "The Harder They Come" in the 1970s and went on to become a prominent reggae artist. Buju Banton won a Grammy for Best Reggae Album in 2011, while Sean Paul helped bring dancehall to the mainstream in the early 2000s.

There are many radio stations in Jamaica that feature local music. RJR 94FM and Irie FM are two of the most popular stations, playing a mix of reggae, dancehall, and other genres. Other notable stations include ZIP FM and Fame FM. These stations also feature talk shows, news, and other content, making them popular among Jamaican listeners. In addition, there are many online radio stations that play Jamaican music, making it accessible to listeners around the world.
