The national channel "Shalkar" was presented on January 1, 1966 as the informative program "Shalkar". Although it was temporarily suspended in 1998, it was reopened in 2002, and at first broadcast only in the city of Almaty. Later, the broadcast time increased and began to spread to the territory of the republic. "Shalkar" national channel is the only channel in the republic that broadcasts exclusively in Kazakh. Currently, radio products cover 62.04 percent of the territory of the republic.
