Radio stations in Western Sahara

Western Sahara is a disputed territory located in the Maghreb region of North Africa. The territory has been the subject of a long-standing dispute between Morocco and the Polisario Front, which seeks independence for the region. As a result, there are no official radio stations based in Western Sahara.

However, some Sahrawi activists and media organizations have established their own online radio stations, including Radio Nacional de la RASD (Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic), Radio Futuro Sahara, and Radio Maizirat. These stations focus on promoting Sahrawi culture and the struggle for independence, often broadcasting in the Hassaniya dialect of Arabic.

Despite the absence of official radio stations, Western Sahara is covered by the national radio stations of Morocco, which include SNRT Chaine Inter, Chada FM, and Hit Radio. These stations broadcast in Moroccan Arabic, French, and Tamazight, and cover a range of topics including news, music, sports, and entertainment.

Overall, the radio landscape in Western Sahara is shaped by the ongoing political conflict, with independent media organizations playing an important role in promoting the voices and perspectives of the Sahrawi people.
