Rock music in Ecuador has a small but dedicated following. In the 1990s, Ecuadorian rock began to gain more mainstream attention with the emergence of bands like La Máquina and El Pacto. Some of the most popular Ecuadorian rock bands include La Máquina, Papá Changó, and La Vagancia. La Máquina, formed in 1990, is one of the most successful rock bands in Ecuadorian history. Their unique sound combines rock, ska, and reggae influences, and they have released several hit albums. Papá Changó is known for their high-energy live performances and unique fusion of rock, cumbia, and other Latin rhythms. La Vagancia, formed in 2005, is a popular punk rock band with a growing fan base.
