Jazz music on the radio in Afghanistan

Jazz music has a small but growing following in Afghanistan, and some local artists have gained popularity for their unique blend of traditional Afghan melodies and jazz improvisation. One of the most well-known jazz artists from Afghanistan is Homayoun Sakhi, a master of the rubab (a traditional Afghan stringed instrument) who has collaborated with jazz musicians from around the world. Other notable Afghan jazz artists include Tawab Arash, a pianist and composer who incorporates elements of classical Afghan music into his jazz compositions, and Qais Essar, a rabab player who fuses traditional Afghan music with jazz, rock, and other genres.

There are a few radio stations in Afghanistan that play jazz music, although it is not as widely broadcasted as other genres. One such station is Arman FM, which plays a mix of Afghan and international music including jazz. Another station is Radio Afghanistan, the country's national radio network, which occasionally features jazz programming. Additionally, the Kabul Jazz Club, located in the capital city, regularly hosts live jazz performances and events, providing a space for local and international musicians to come together and share their music.
