Rádio Universidade Marão began broadcasting from a basement of the former DRM, in Vila Real, on May 5, 1986. From December 1, 1989, it began to hold a license for the municipality of Vila Real and installed the studios in Quinta of Espadanal. Since 2004, it has had studios in the University Residences of UTAD, in the new part of the city, next to Parque da Cidade and Teatro de Vila Real.
