Radio Macaya is a radio station based in Les Cayes, Haiti. It offers national and international news, entertainment, leisure, cultural, sports and social programs, as well as music and good humor! The democratic movement of 1986 and the desire to express oneself that naturally accompanied it gave birth to many press organs. Thus a multitude of radio and television stations have emerged. This wind of opining freely on all subjects of national life blew in a great gust across the country before reaching the cays in the early 90s. However, the political turbulence and the military regimes which succeeded one another in power after the coup d'etat of 1991, the situation deteriorated and some journalists, including Raymond Clergé, emigrated to the United States of America. First, in Boston where a population of 70,000 Haitians lived at the time, he collaborated with several community stations and refined his know-how in radio broadcasting. At radio tandem kiskeya as a journalist-presenter, he showed seriousness and professionalism which earned him the distinction of best journalist in the community in 1993. Then at Radio Concorde, as programming director and presenter with Marcus Darbouze, ex - chief editor at Radio Cacique. Back in Haiti, thanks to the presidential elections of June 1995, as a special sender for radio concorde, he noticed that the landscape of radio broadcasting in Les Cayes had not changed compared to the rest of the country. So after deep reflections and discussions with friends on the percentage of failure or success of a commercial station in Les Cayes, he decided to provide the third city of the country with a radio station that meets the expectations of the population. The idea caught on and with the unconditional support of Dr. Yves Jean-Bart ''Dadou'', Radio Macaya was inaugurated on October 19, 1996. In record time, the news spread throughout the southern department and the news station has attained a listening rate beyond expectations. Indeed the arrival of Radio Macaya has relieved thousands of listeners who until then had to wait for hours or even days to find out what is happening in the rest of the country or elsewhere. Such a scenario for music lovers and lovers of good sound who could not satisfy themselves without long-range antennas capable of capturing the stations of the capital. Since then, the Macaya experience has continued on its way with the objective of doing well while pleasing. Thank you
