‘O Regional’ was founded in 1922 by a group of young locals from Sanjoan, who had as their primary objective the struggle for municipal emancipation. This desideratum was achieved in 1926. Enthusiasm, localism, the constant struggle for progress in S. João da Madeira is, so to speak, the genetic code transmitted to us by the founders, from generation to generation, until today and will continue.
