Radio Jawhara FM, Tunisia is a private Tunisian radio broadcasting in the Arabic language (the Tunisian dialect). The radio's success can be explained in particular because young people seem to identify with the tone of the presenters and the Tunisian dialect in which the programs are presented, the style being a clear break with the literal Arabic that can be heard on the national radio or Radio Monastir. These same young people very frequently cite the Friday evening shows, hosted by Leila Ben Atitallah, through which various topics relating to sexuality are discussed. These programs often deal with adultery, homosexuality and virginity, subjects sometimes in conflict with the conservatism of Tunisian society.
