Since its founding, Radio Hrvatsko Zagorje Krapina (RHZK) has devoted full attention and a worthy space to Zagorje music, its affirmation and promotion. Many bands from Zagorje owe their popularity in the seventies and early eighties precisely to Radio Hrvatsko Zagorje - Krapina and to recordings made in the radio's studio.
Although it was founded as a promoter of the Krapina Festival and the Kajkavian Popovka, and thus pays special attention to nurturing the cultural heritage and Kajkavian expression, from the very beginning of broadcasting it continuously reports on events in the political, cultural, economic and public life of Hrvatski Zagorje. Today, the program of this commercial radio station is designed by ten full-time employees and ten associates. For the past twelve years, Radio has been the organizer of the Zagorje music festival Krijesnica, which has so far produced 503 new original compositions, whose musical form, performance and linguistic expression aim to preserve the Kajkavian dialect and the cultural identity of northwestern Croatia. The quality of the festival is especially contributed by its artistic director, Chief Conductor of the HRT Tambura Orchestra, maestro Siniša Leopold.
