On the air since 1946 transmitting information. Radio Eldorado, commitment to you!. Criciúma was already teeming with progress in the first half of the 1940s. Coal extraction, on an industrial scale since the 10s, made the city a center that attracted labor, within a municipality much larger than the current one. At that time, Criciúma comprised the current territories of Içara, Nova Veneza and Forquilhinha. Soon, the criciumense land extended from the recesses of the mountain range that borders Rio Grande do Sul to the coast dotted by the current Balneário Rincão. A municipality that, at the time of the fourth decade of the 20th century, already surpassed Araranguá and Laguna, older ones, in importance in the south of Santa Catarina. A radio station was missing to speak to this growing population. The few existing devices picked up the waves from Porto Alegre stations, such as Gaúcha and Farroupilha, and from Rio, such as Mairink Veiga, Tamoio, Tupi and Nacional, in addition to Difusora de Laguna.
