Radio Cacique

Radio Cacique, had the first female radio operator in Haiti. We have always made the defense of freedom of expression our priority. In 1964, we witnessed the departure for exile of two of our founding members: Roger San Millan and Anthony Phelps. Between 1963 and 1969, the studios were moved upstairs from Adesky's house on rue Traversière. During this period, Gérard Camfort, Eddy Zamor, Wilson M. Pierrelus, Jacques Sampeur, Rockefeller Jean-Baptiste joined the staff. Some will still remember the programs exclusively dedicated to the orchestra of Nemours Jean-Baptiste "cacique advertisements" and "flying the red and white flag" without forgetting the Haitian music programs hosted by Jacques Sampeur and more particularly, those on Saturdays reserved for the Tabou Combo. The auditorium (radio theater) of Radio Cacique has also seen a number of artists and orchestras such as those of Nemours Jean-Baptiste and Webert Sicot, mini jazz like the Ambassadors, the Diplomats, the Vickings including Jean -Claude Carrie, ex-director of Radio Cacique and a consummate musician, was the godfather. From 1969 to 1972, Radio Cacique saw its studios transported to Place Jérémie (not very much), to the dancing restaurant "l'Oasis" (next to the Eldorado cinema), property of the well-known journalist, former leader of the carnival group " LOBODIA”, former mayor of Port-au-Prince: André Juste who, too, was part of our staff for many years.
