On December 11, 1989, the Federal Council granted the license to operate a private radio station in Aargau. On February 28, 1990, Radio Argovia AG was founded by various Aargau publishers and the first programs were broadcast in Aargau on May 1, 1990 on 90.3 (100 watts, stereo) and 94.9 MHz (500 watts, mono). Since October 15, 2005, Radio Argovia has been broadcasting from the new media house on Bahnhofstrasse in Aarau.
