The oldest Local Radio in Portugal.Radio Altitude began regular broadcasts on July 29, 1948 in the city of Guarda and is the oldest local radio in Portugal. However, the birth of Rádio dates back to 1946, when José Maria Pedrosa, interned at the Sousa Martins Sanatorium (which operated in Guarda between 1907 and 1975), installed the first internal transmitter. And on October 21, 1947, the director of the Sanatorium, doctor Ladislau Patrício, approved the regulation of Rádio Altitude, which mentioned in Article 1: «The broadcasting station of Caixa Recreativa is called Rádio Altitude and is intended to provide patients with of the Sanatorium certain distractions compatible with the discipline of the treatment».
