Since its inception, Al-Jazeera was the first satellite station to provide independent and objective news and live dialogues in Arabic to its audience in the Middle East and North Africa mainly, and in the rest of the world. The depth of the influence that Al-Jazeera brought about in the Arab media scene emerged since its early years, prompting many observers and media specialists to assert that Al-Jazeera changed the basic features of the Arab media and pushed it to more freedom, independence and boldness. Al-Jazeera has become a distinguished media school against which the performance of other media institutions in the region is measured.
