Eight cibist friends decided to create the first free radio station in Pont-à-Mousson in October 1981. The studio was improvised in the apartment of one of them, Jean-Jacques Hazard, the antenna was installed on a tree in the garden and the first broadcasts only last a few hours a day. In 1984, the station was officially authorized and offered missipontains a complete and structured programme. Radios Activities will go through the 80s and 90s without too many major problems, its authorization is always renewed, the networks are not very attracted by medium-sized towns, the financial problems are continual but not dramatic, the municipality will help the station by equipping its studio, and the management team remains fairly stable.
