Between the 1990s and 2000 there was a radio station at the University called Alternativa UFMS, broadcast on the Modulated Frequency 107.7. The program had a large participation of students of the Journalism course who used the vehicle for experimentalism. From 1999, under supervision, students from other courses were integrated into the radio, expanding academic participation and diversifying the grid, mixing journalistic information, humor and discussions about the areas of science with music. Shows on campus, at Concha Acústica and even festivals were broadcast live, such as the First Festival of Brazilian Music promoted by the program “Já Basta!” held in the parking lot of the Glauce Rocha theater. In 2000, sound boxes were also installed in the halls of the UFMS, which, after the station closed in 2002, continued to transmit the experimental programs produced at the Laboratory of Radiojournalism.
