Catalunya Ràdio was born on June 20, 1983 with the aim of promoting and spreading the Catalan language and culture, in accordance with the principles of the Spanish Constitution and the Statute of Autonomy of 1979.
A pioneer in technology and in the creation of specialized channels, Catalunya Ràdio covers the entire Catalan territory and is committed to quality content and citizen service information.
In these years, Catalunya Ràdio has become a group of broadcasters that includes 4 channels under this name: Catalunya Ràdio, the conventional channel, the first and the one that gives the group its name; Catalunya Informació, a 24-hour formula of uninterrupted news; Catalunya Música, dedicated to classical and contemporary music, and iCat, the group's musical and cultural channel. The four broadcasters offer differentiated programming, maintaining two common characteristics: quality and the Catalan language as a vehicle of expression.
