It has been said that Brazilians cannot live without a radio. And over the past 80 years there's no denying that AM and FM radio has indeed become an integral part of everyone's lives. Its strength is felt in every city in the country. It is no exaggeration to say that integration is done with radio. With technological advances, the quality of transmission and reception makes the listener a privileged one.
Radio has been suffering from paradigm shifts for several years. First was television, which added moving pictures to the mono sound of tube sets. Then the AM radios heard the FMs arrive, with much better sound quality. Then came a sequence of new competitors, such as car cassette players, walkmen, CD players, cell phones, online Internet stations and MP3 players. And the evolution doesn't stop! A new transmission system is coming: digital radio. But, the FM is fine, thank you. After all, it is already stereo and has audio quality.
