Hip hop has become a popular genre of music in Kosovo since the late 1990s. The genre came to the fore as a result of the influence of American-hailed artists such as Tupac and Biggie, whose music was received with much enthusiasm by the Kosovo youth, particularly in the inner cities. One of the most popular hip hop artists in Kosovo is Lyrical Son. He is known for his socially conscious lyrics, which touch on social and political problems in the country. He has released several albums, including "Sikur", "Thirrrni e Shtoni", and "Tabullarasa". Other popular hip hop artists include Mc Kresha, Noizy, and Era Istrefi. The most popular radio stations playing hip hop in Kosovo are Urban FM, which has a wide range of programs dedicated to the genre, from hip hop news to interviews with local and international hip hop artists. There is also Radio Dukagjini, whose program "Shqip Hop" is aired every Saturday evening and features the latest hits in the genre as well as interviews with upcoming and established hip hop artists. Hip hop has become an integral part of the music industry in Kosovo as it provides an outlet for the youth to express themselves and vent their frustrations. The popularity of the genre has resulted in more and more artists venturing into it, making it one of the fastest-growing music genres in the country.
