Radio Azzurra 88 Rete Liguria werd in 1988 geboren uit de as van Radio Gamma 80 TOP ITALIA RADIO in Amborzasco (S.Stefano d'Aveto) in de provincie Genua op initiatief van Claudio Sacco en Luciano Focacci in samenwerking met de gemeente S Stefano d'Aveto en Rezzoaglio De naam is afgeleid van de BLAUWE boot die in 1988 met succes deelnam aan de AMERICAN CUP.
