Tongan is an Austronesian language spoken in the Kingdom of Tonga, a Polynesian archipelago in the South Pacific Ocean. It is the national language of Tonga and is also spoken by Tongan communities in New Zealand, Australia, and the United States. The language has a rich oral tradition, with storytelling, songs, and poetry playing an important role in Tongan culture.

There are several popular Tongan musical artists who use the language in their music, including the band Spacifix, singer Tiki Taane, and rapper Savage. Traditional Tongan music often features instruments such as the lali (a wooden drum), pate (a wooden slit drum), and ukulele.

In terms of radio stations, there are a few stations that broadcast in Tongan, such as the Tonga Broadcasting Commission, which offers news, music, and cultural programming in both Tongan and English. Additionally, several community radio stations in New Zealand also offer programming in Tongan, such as Planet FM in Auckland and Radio 531pi in Wellington. These stations provide an important connection to Tongan culture and language for Tongan communities living abroad.
